harry and ginny were married shortly after ginny's final year of hogwarts, and when she was nearly twenty they had their first child. james was unlike either of his parents, only inheriting looks and his love for quidditch. he was never the brightest boy, but he's made them proud with his small success and his health. two years after the birth of james came albus, who followed in his name sake, and was charming, brilliant, and loved everyone. but mostly, men. though his parents were startled and confused, they love their son as much as any parent can. and finally, a little over a year after albus, came lily. who was very much like her mother and uncles, tough and mischievous, but was never very affectionate or sweet. instead she was dramatic and made a fuss about everything. though harry never really understood, ginny always had a special sympathy for the only daughter in the family, having been in the same position herself.

ronald and hermione married a short time before harry and ginny, but took longer to reproduce, mainly for the fact that ronald was...well, lacking. after nearly half a dozen years rose was born, and though she was beautiful and brilliant, she grew to be arrogant and (there's no better word for it) shallow. she could barely stand her mother, who she had learned to call mudblood during their many arguments, and to hate her father who was too stupid to realize his son was not his son. after a couple of years, while rose was still a sweet child, hermione and ron began their attempts for a second child. while trying they had one of their many arguments and hermione ran off for a few days, only to run into her previous love interest, and star quidditch player viktor krum. a few days later she returned home, and months later hugo was born. ron, none the wiser, was ecstatic to have a boy.

for a short period of time after the final battle, george found comfort (needing a large amount of comfort after losing his twin) in a beautiful woman from beauxbatons. during the few years they lived together, they had two daughters, and were engaged briefly. after the birth of their second daughter, she (the mother) ran away with the fear that she would turn into a weasley wife - she wanted to be nothing like molly weasley or victoire, who turned out very much like molly. now, the girls live in their own apartment where the eldest stays for most of the year, and the youngest stays only when on break from school. both love their father dearly, help run his shop, and are constantly seaching for a woman to settle down with him.

A few years after it was published and he was living a rich life, he met an old class mate and fan of his at a book signing. Mandy Brocklehurst and he married a few months after that signing, and eventually had a stunning baby girl who makes them proud by following the rules and being intelligent. they don't seem to realize, however, that she's one of those girls referred to as a hogwarts broom, because she'll let anyone have a ride on her.

First time role playing, ever? Well, don't fret! This guide should help you out.

Well, first of all, you would like to be a certain character, but you don't know a lot about them, go to www.wikipedia.com and search your character's name. If, by the end of Wikipedia there still wasn't enough information to complete your application, just make the information up.

How to Post An Application

You wanted to know how to pick a character? Well, it depends if you want to be a student, teacher, Future or Marauder's Era character.

Well, to keep things simple, let's say you want to be a student.

Start off from the main page. In the "General" category, there is a board called "Applications & Characters". Click on it.

From there, there are five boards entitled "Student Applications", "Adult Applications","Available Characters & Applications", "Future Generation Applications" and "Marauder Era Applications." Click on "Available Characters & Applications."

Here you will find all the applications and the character availability list

Choose your character.

Go back to "Available Characters & Applications"

From there, click on "Student Application." (or whatever application you are after) There is a code there. Copy and paste it.

Go back to "Student Applications."

If you look carefully, you'll see a folder with a plus sign on it and says "new thread" next to it. Click on it. Make the title of your new thread your character's name. Paste the code into the new thread and fill it out.

How to Role Play

Role playing really isn’t that difficult… if you know how to do it. Of course, it is always difficult for beginners and not everyone will get it right one hundred per cent of the time, but not following these rules causes role playing sites to look sloppy and amateur, which I’m sure we don’t want happening, right? Then follow This Guide to Role Playing.

Basically, you chose your character, act like it. If you decide to be Hermione, she is not a very, extremely mean and rude person; she does not have a stalkerish crush on Ron and nor can she not function without him. Hermione is independent and can function fine without him. Hell, she’s done it all her life! (Let’s hope the next book something will happen.)

Anyways, conversations like this are not realistic:

Hermione walked into the Great Hall. She saw Ron and giggled relentlessly. She couldn’t help it, he just made her act like that. She pranced over to him and took a seat next to him.
“Hello Ron,” she said, flirtatiously.

Then in the next post, Ron says,

“What do you want, you Mudblood?” he snarled. “You really need to get over me.”

What’s wrong with the following posts? Well, Hermione is not flirtatious, nor would she giggle madly at the sight at Ron. She’s been seeing him for years, it wouldn’t change that quickly. It would be… odd.

Next, Ron would never call anyone a Mudblood, never mind Hermione. Besides, no one has admitted feelings for each other yet between Ron and Hermione in the books so he couldn’t say something like that.

(Note: Of course Hermione and Ron can date in role playing. I’m just saying that a conversation like THAT would never happen ever.)

Anyways, the conversation would probably go better somewhat like this:

Hermione walked into the Great Hall. She spotted Ron and took a seat across from him.
“Did you finish your homework?” she asked, almost immediately, trying to think of something to talk about without Harry being around.
To her, it always seemed like Harry was the one who brought the conversations.

Then Ron might respond something like this:

“Hermione, why must you harp me about homework all the time?” he demanded, tiredly.
He honestly didn’t want to snap at her, but really… why did she have to talk about homework?

See? There is a bit of hint of liking each other’s company, but not really knowing what to say.

Also, in role playing, a Gryffindor and Slytherin can’t automatically like each other in a romantic kind of way. (Well, really, no one can really love each other right away, but not the point.) There will always be that tension between Gryffindors and Slytherins. Besides, this role playing site is just for canon characters (except for the select few), so really, which Gryffindors would date which Slytherins without it becoming extremely unrealistic?

But not the point, if your character is a Gryffindor and the one your character loves is a Slytherin that is an obstacle which you have to acknowledge. You can’t pretend it’s not but moving on…

Here are more posts which are incorrect:

charlie walked over to the chair and took a seat.
“hello cassie” he said smiling.

What’s wrong with that? A little thing called punctuation and capitalization. Without these two things, it makes the post look like a child wrote it and it isn’t very appealing. Something like this is better:

Charlie walked over to the chair and took a seat.
“Hello Cassie,” he said, smiling.

Doesn’t it make the post look so much better?

Next is this excuse for a post:

*walkes over 2 harry and smiles buetiflee* Hello!

Ah, there’s so much wrong with that it’s not even funny.

First of all, we have the no action in asterisks [ex. *insert action here*] for a reason. It’s annoying and should be left out! Your posts are supposed to be written like stories. Also, the post has spelling mistakes in it. If you see a spelling mistake in one of your posts (even an older one), please go to the ‘modify’ button and fix the error. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and you have no idea how annoying spelling errors are.

Anyways, the post should look like this:

She walked over to Harry and smiled beautifully.
“Hello!”

Instantly better. Of course, still not the best post in the world, but not everyone is a great author.

Next is posts like this:

Cassie looked over at the group of people swimming in the lake. How she longed to be swimming with them, but if they didn’t want to be swimming with her, why even bother hoping? She lay against the tree and just watched them, wishing she could join.

Seem like a good post? Or do you see what’s wrong with it?

Well, for one, no where (assuming) was it mentioned that they didn’t want to be swimming with her. She only assumed. Also, you can nearly taste the begging of being asked in the post. But other characters can’t read minds. You have to look like you want to go swimming with them, not just like you’re stalking them. Maybe you just walk along the edge of the lake and you ‘fall’ in or something. Get yourself involved! That’s one of the biggest things. People can’t read your mind.

And remember, if you want to say something out of character at the end (or beginning) of your post, keep it in double brackets. Either (( )) {{ }} or [[ ]]

Also, if you don’t know how to spell or use grammar, try typing your posts up on Microsoft Word beforehand, or use the spell check on the forums.
